Feature Artist Story: The Making of “Satone Playroom” — A Collaboration Born from Connection
Sometimes, great collaborations don’t start with a grand plan — they begin in the studio, in conversation, in moments where passion aligns naturally. That’s exactly how our collaboration with Satone began.
We first connected with Satone during the recording of her debut album “Back To Me.” Between takes, casual chats turned into real conversations about our shared love for R&B, Soul, and storytelling through music. There was chemistry — not just musical, but artistic vision. It felt clear that something meaningful could happen if we created together.
So, we decided to bring that spark to life.

Choosing the Songs — Honoring Roots & Identity
To start, we chose three songs that reflect Satone’s musical foundation — songs with warmth, vulnerability, and soul:
“Time Will Tell” — Hikaru Utada
“Don’t Know Why” — Norah Jones
“Love on the Brain” — Rihanna
Rather than producing large arrangements or layered harmonies, we went the opposite direction:One voice. One instrument. One room.
The idea was simple — let authenticity lead.
Building the Duo Arrangement
Our producer arranged each song into a guitar + vocal duo style.
The goal was to:
Preserve the emotional essence of the originals
Carry the groove and harmonic depth of a full band within one guitar part
Create space for Satone’s voice to breathe, move, and shine
Rhythmic accents from drums and bass were subtly implied through guitar phrasing. Melodic fills and extended harmonies supported transitions. Everything was crafted to lift Satone’s performance without overshadowing it.
Her tone was warm and full.
Her dynamics were thoughtful and controlled.
Every breath, expression, and held note carried emotion.
Those were real moments and made the room shifted.
Capturing the Session — Two Visual Worlds
We wanted the visuals to feel just as intentional as the music.
So we filmed the performance in two styles:
Platform | Style | Purpose |
Short-form (SNS) | Phone camera | To make viewers feel like they’re right there in the room |
YouTube (Full Version) | Cinema-style camera & color tone | To create a warm, atmospheric, immersive listening experience |
It was fascinating to see how the same performance could tell two different emotional stories, depending on how it was seen.
Between takes, we also held a small photo session — capturing her natural laughter, quiet moments, and her focus while recording. These became some of our favorite images from the day: authentic, unposed, real artistry in motion.
